Minimalist May - Day 9
challengeI have to say, hot days make me want to give it all up and enjoy my life. There were a few challenges, but I got through it.
Diet
I struggled with my food today. It was the meals that were the issue. My school do the best cornflake on a Thursday and it is my favourite dessert at work. I was so tempted. Luckily, I walked away from the canteen hatch, observing the people around me enjoy their desserts. On my way home, I was starving. I nearly headed to shop for a snack. However, I knew I would be eating two hours later.
I believe it was an article I read today that reminded me that I was making the right decision by following my instinct. There was a thirty-year study in the US about ultra-processed food. As you can imagine, ultra-processed foods are bad for you. Spoiler alert: eating rubbish leads to an early death.

Finance
I managed to avoid going to the shops when I stopped myself from snacking. Today, I decided against continuing with Todoist because of the recent sync issues as well as recurring tasks disappearing. I will save money by not subscribing to the service. The price is too steep for what it offers anyway.
Caffeine
Warm water around 10AM and no temptations throughout the day. Of all the challenges, I thought this one would be the hardest to conquer. It isn’t. I miss the coffee. However, I feel confident I could easily switch to decaf after the month is over.
Exercise
Press-ups and plank in the morning and the same in the evening. Planking for one minute is getting easier, so I might try adding another twenty seconds to see how far I can push myself. I skipped the weights and went straight into a 10K cross trainer session.
Sleep
I went to bed around 10PM last night. I believe I fell asleep relatively quickly, which is great for me. There was a frustrating moment when I woke up at 4:45AM (again), but I went back to sleep without touching my phone. It has taken me two years to realise I can turn my Apple Watch on its side to act as a bedside clock.
My post is part of #WeblogPoMo2024. Stay tuned for tomorrow's post.
