Minimalist May - Day 12
challengeEvery so often, you simply need a day to rest. Having the perfect weather helps, too. I managed to get both, so I'm happy about that. There were a few changes to my routine today. Nothing too drastic, though.
Diet
I started the day with my porridge pot for breakfast. For lunch, my wife had made me a cheese sandwich on a sub roll. In the evening, I get a mozzarella, spinach, and tomato parcel with rice and salad. It is only now that I appreciate I did not add bread and other fatty foods to my challenge because it would have been too hard for me to keep to.
Finance
I had to get my haircut, purchase new razors and shaving cream. It’s not a significant expense. These were all budgeted before I took on this challenge.
Caffeine
I sense that this is a redundant section at the moment. I have no desire to drink coffee. The only thing I would mention is the heat always makes me want to have a carbonated drink. The usual one that has caffeine in it. I’m sure this will pass at some point. Water will have to do.
Exercise
I started with the usual morning routine. I realised increasing my press-ups too soon would be an issue. I managed twelve with ease. For my morning plank, I managed 80 seconds.
Weights and cross-training were replaced with a great session of basketball with my son. I don’t know if he is getting better, or it was the sun, but I was sweating it out.
Sleep
I went to bed at 10:30. As I was going to bed, I realise I had not hit
publish on my blog post, including the act of sharing the content on X
and Mastodon. Luckily, I was scanning my incomplete tasks for the day.
There was only one on there — publish blog post.
The post was
actually written, meaning I didn’t have to rush like had during the
previous evening. Disaster adverted.
Side note: My Scribbles blog (this one) is outperforming my original blog this month. I don't believe it will be too long until this blog beats the lifetime total of my other blog. Maybe I should retire the other one? I enjoy using micro.blog. However, I feel Scribbles has a cleaner, simpler experience for my blogging.
I would like to say thank you for all of those who read my posts. It means a lot. I would also like to thank Lou Plummer for his regular feedback and interactions. Finally, I would like to give a huge shoutout to Vincent Ritter, creator of Scribbles (and Tinylytics), for creating this amazing platform. And of course, I would not have heard about Scribbles if it weren't for Jedda. You legends!
My post is part of #WeblogPoMo2024. Stay tuned for tomorrow's post.
